Chapter 12

  • Draw shapes in a document by clicking the Shapes button in the Illustrations group in the Insert tab, clicking the desired shape at the drop-down list, and then dragging in the document to draw the shape.
  • With shape options at the Shapes button drop-down list, you can draw lines or enclosed shapes.
  • When you draw a line, hold down the Shift key to draw a straight horizontal or vertical line. When you draw an enclosed shape, maintain the proportions of the shape by holding down the Shift key while dragging in the document to create the shape.
  • Copy a shape by holding down the Ctrl key while dragging the selected shape.
  • Customize a shape with options in the Drawing Tools Format tab.
  • Insert text in an enclosed object by clicking the Edit Text button in the Insert Shapes group in the Drawing Tools Format tab.
  • Draw a text box by clicking the Text Box button in the Text group in the Insert tab, clicking Draw Text Box at the drop-down list, and then clicking in the document or dragging in the document.
  • Format and customize a text box with buttons in the Text Box Tools Format tab.
  • Link drawn text boxes with the Create Link button in the Text group in the Text Box Tools Format tab. Break a link with the Break Link button in the Text group.
  • Select multiple objects by clicking the Select button in the Editing group in the Home tab and then clicking Select Objects at the drop-down list. Draw a border around objects you want to select.
  • Use WordArt to distort or modify text to conform to a variety of shapes.
  • Customize WordArt with options in the WordArt Tools Format tab.
  • Edit WordArt text by clicking the Edit Text button in the Edit group in the WordArt Tools Format tab.
  • Size WordArt using the sizing handles that display around the selected WordArt or with the Shape Height and Shape Width measurement boxes in the WordArt Tools Format tab.
  • Apply shadow and 3-D effects to WordArt text with buttons in the WordArt Tools Format tab.
  • Use buttons in the Arrange group in the WordArt Tools Format tab to position WordArt text on the page.
