What is the toolbar?

The C'est à toi! toolbar offers options for navigating and using this electronic textbook.

This red book icon opens up the Reference Panel. The reference panel contains the Contents, Bookmarks, Glossary and Index of the book.

The Create a Sticky Note tool allows you to create sticky notes in your book. When you are reading through C'est à toi!, use a sticky note to write yourself a note. The sticky note will remain posted as long as you use the same computer. To delete the sticky note, click on the square button in the upper left-hand corner of the note.

The Highlight Tool allows you to highlight text in C'est à toi!. When selecting the highlighter, the mouse cursor turns into a highlighter. Click and drag the cursor to highlight. To delete a highlight, place the cursor above it and click.

The Voice Recorder allows you to record your own voice and play it back. Clicking on the icon opens the voice recorder window where the Windows and Mac recorders can be downloaded. After installing the voice recorder, open the application which has record, stop, save and play buttons. The voice recorder needs to be opened only once. You can then leave it open as you review vocabulary or practice speaking. To review your recordings after you have closed the Voice Recorder tool, use any type of media player to play back the audio file you created. It is important to remember where you saved your files.

Click on the Sound off/on button to turn the sound off or on at any time.

The Last Page icon will go to the last opened page.

The Zoom to Full Width icon allows you to increase the width of a page to fit the screen.

The Zoom to Full Page icon adjusts the page on the screen so that all of the content is viewable.

The Drag Page icon allows you to move a page.

 

How do I go to a different page?

There are two ways to go to a different page. On the toolbar, you can type the page number in the text field and hit Enter, or you can use the blue Previous Page and Next Page arrows to flip through pages.

 

How do I scroll the pages?

To scroll pages of the book, click inside the text and use the scroll button on the mouse, if you have one. Or, you can select the Drag Page and move pages up/down or left/right.

 

How do I go to the last page?

To go to the last page opened, click on the Last Page button.

 

How do I highlight text in C'est à toi!?

How do I create notes?

How do I change the font or text size?

Increase or decrease the size of a page on the screen by using the zoom bar or typing a number in the zoom box and pressing Enter.

How do I use the contents?

Use the Reference Panel in order to access the Contents. Next, click on the red book icon on the toolbar. Select any chapter to see its contents. Then you can click on the content you wish to access.

How can I add bookmarks?

In the Reference Panel, click on the Bookmarks tab.

To add a bookmark, go to the page you would like to bookmark, type in a name and click on Add. The bookmark will be added to the list. To delete a bookmark, go to the bookmarks section in the reference panel, select the one you would like to delete and click on the Delete Selected button.

How do I launch an audio activity?

Audio activities are denoted by a headset icon . Click on the icon to launch the activity window. The activity box may open above or below the title of the activity. You can easily reposition an activity by clicking on the title bar and dragging the activity to a more suitable location.

How do I launch a written activity?

Written activities are denoted by a paper and pen icon . Click the icon to launch a window containing activity information. The activity box may open above or below the title of the activity. You can easily reposition an activity by clicking on the title bar and dragging the activity to a more suitable location.

How do I check my answers?

After completing an activity, you can check the answers by clicking on the Check Answers button in the lower right-hand corner of each activity window.

How do I print my work?

For activities that have a Check Answers button, you may print after you have checked your answers. To print, click on the Print button in the lower right-hand corner of the activity.

How do I send assignments to my teacher?

Send assignments to your teacher by clicking on the Send button after you have completed the activity and checked your answers. If the activity does not require you to check answers, you can send an assignment at any time.

After clicking on Send, another window will open to confirm your name and the e-mail address of the recipient. Once you have sent an e-mail, you can return to the activity to review your work or print your answers.

How do I fill out e-mail information?

Complete the form on the cover page and click the Save (Save Again) button.  The information is stored on that computer and is used every time an assignment is sent from that computer.

How do I use full-screen mode?

To use full-screen mode, go to the View menu and select Full Screen. This maximizes the application and hides the menu bar. You can also enter full-screen mode by pressing Ctrl+F.

To exit full-screen mode, press the Esc key or Ctrl+F.

How do I exit C'est à toi!?

Exit C'est à toi! by clicking on the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. If you are in full-screen mode, exit from that mode first.

How do I add accented characters?

Use the Character Palette to add accented characters to an activity. The Character Palette is a series of keys that appears on every activity window. Position the cursor where you want the accented character to appear and click on the accented character key.

The Character Palette includes all the basic accented characters (diacritics) used in French.

Where the Character Palette is not available, such as in the games, press and hold the Alt key while composing the numeric combinations shown here on your numeric keypad.

(Note that this method works for any MS Windows-based program.)

How do I access the tutorial?

Access the tutorial by clicking on the tutorial button on the cover page. The tutorial introduces and explains the main features of C'est à toi!.
