Collaborative Learning: Planning a Teen Read Week Celebration
Can you imagine a world without books? The American Library Association is dedicated to promoting books and reading. Along with all the other programs they sponsor, for one week every year in October, they celebrate Teen Read Week. Visit the Teen Read Week page on their website and click on "Ways to Celebrate Teen Read Week." Working in a small group, plan an activity celebrating Teen Read Week. You can pick an activity from the website or come up with your own idea. In your plan, consider what supplies you need, how long the activity will take, who will coordinate each part of the activity, etc. Compile the activity plans from all the groups in your class into a booklet, and present it to your school’s media specialist or school librarian.
