Sarah Ellis has been a librarian, a book reviewer, a columnist, a storyteller, a teacher of children's literature, and an award-winning children's author. Her novels take place mainly in Vancouver, British Columbia, where she has lived most of her life. Many of the events in her stories are taken from her past; the people and places that were a part of her childhood often appear. She grew up in a family where sharing stories and reading books were daily activities. Although she didn't think about becoming a writer, her love for reading led her to study librarianship. While in college, she became interested in children's literature. When she began her first novel, she never told anyone. Ellis has published six books and is known throughout Canada and the world as an accomplished author.
