Lillian Morrison (b.1917) writes poems filled with rhythm and active movement. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Morrison spent nearly forty years of her life working in the New York Public Library. She has written several books of poetry, including The Breakdance Kids and The Sidewalk Race and Other Poems of Sports and Motion. As these titles suggest, Morrison is drawn especially to the body movements and rhythms shown by athletes and dancers.
