Read the Prereading information on page 629 and make a grid like the second one in the Graphic Organizer feature.
Read the poems with a partner. As you read, note which syllables are strongly stressed by filling in the grid you made. You may have to read the poems aloud several times before you are able to fill in the grid.
If you and your partner are having trouble filling out your grid, get together with another pair of students and practice reading the poems aloud.
When everyone has practiced reading the poems aloud several times, participate in a whole-class choral reading of the two poems. Demonstrate how the speakers feel about the sea in the way you say the lines aloud.
