Bill Littlefield has written numerous articles, reviews, and essays for a publications such as the Boston Globe and Los Angeles Times. He was the guest editor for the 1998 edition of Houghton Mifflin's Best American Sports Writing. His books include Baseball Days, Prospect, and Champions: The Stories of Ten Remarkable Athletes. He is currently a professor in the at Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts, where he has taught writing and literature courses since 1976. He is also the host of "Only a Game," a radio show aired on WBUR and National Public Radio in Boston.

Samuel Allen is a poet known for merging African and African-American culture in his poetry. He attributes the heritage of black people, African-American oral tradition, and the Southern black church as the major influences in his poetry. Allen is also a prominent figure both in Africa and in the United States as a reviewer, translator, editor, and lecturer of African and African-American literature. He has taught literature and writing at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, Wesleyan University, Boston College, and Rutgers University. He also lectures about black affairs at national and international conferences.
