Read the Prereading page and the title. Look at the title and picture on page 830, and notice the subheads, and the bold and regular text. Describe the format of the selection.
1. With your partner, take turns reading the selection aloud. One person should read the question. The other person should read the answer. How do you know which is which?
2. Stop at the end of each question and answer the Guided Reading Questions.
If you have trouble understanding any of the questions and answers, reread them, switching roles with your partners. If you were reading the questions earlier, now read the answers and have your partner read the questions.
Discuss your opinions about the advice given in the column with your partner. If you need to, review the advice by rereading the answer sections of the text. Talk about how the text differs from other newspaper columns and articles.
