Budge Wilson grew up in Nova Scotia, Canada, the setting for many of her stories. Wilson mainly writes fiction for and about young people, drawing on her own experiences and those of friends and family members. Many of her stories explore human relationships and the struggles people experience growing up. Wilson has won numerous awards for her work and travels widely to speak in schools and libraries. Her books include The Leaving and The Dandelion Garden, two collections of short stories, and the novels Breakdown, Thirteen Never Changes, and Sharla.
