During Reading

Continue to Visualize

1. Listen to “Song of the Thunders.” As you listen to the poem, make a picture in your mind. Include details about the sights, sounds, and feelings.

2. Read “Song of the Crows” on your own. Create a mind picture for this song. Again, involve multiple senses in the picture you create.

Fix-Up Idea: Refocus

If you are having trouble visualizing, try refocusing. What do you think of when you hear the word pity? What kinds of sounds would a self-pitying person make? Think about how a cloud looks when it is blown across the sky. For the second poem, think about what the crow does. Why is this important? How might that change how you see the crow?
