Jerry Izenberg is a sportswriter and reporter who writes a syndicated sports column that appears in newspapers around the country. Born in 1930, he graduated from Rutgers University and received his Ph.D. from Harvard University. Izenberg has written a number of books—including New York Giants: Seventy-Five Years and How Many Miles to Camelot: The All-American Sport Myth—and has written or directed more than thirty television specials. "Roberto Clemente: A Bittersweet Memoir" is taken from his book Great Latin Sports Figures: Proud People, which was published in 1976.
