Ingri d'Aulaire (1904–1980) and Edgar Parin d'Aulaire (1898–1986) were authors and illustrators who produced most of their work together. Edgar Parin d'Aulaire was born in Switzerland; he came to the United States in 1929 and became a U.S. citizen in 1939. Ingri Mortenson d'Aulaire was born in Norway. In 1940, they won the Caldecott Medal for Abraham Lincoln. The d'Aulaires also published D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths and Norse Gods and Giants.
