Gary Soto is the author of more than twenty books and has won numerous awards for his poetry and short stories. Much of Soto's writing focuses on the Mexican-American experience. Soto was born in 1952 in Fresno, California. Today, he lives in Berkeley, California, with his wife and daughter.
