Saki is the pen name used by Hector Hugh Munro (1870–1916), an English writer known for his witty short stories. Saki was born in Burma. His mother died when he was an infant, and he was sent to England to live with two aunts. He later became a well-known journalist in London. Saki published four collections of short stories and two novels before he was killed in battle in World War I (1914–1918).
