Carol Farley (b.1936) has worked as a fruit picker, a clothing salesperson, and a schoolteacher, as well as a writer. While she was in school, her favorite classes were literature classes because she enjoyed discussing what she had read. Farley believes that children often perceive the obvious, even when it eludes the adults around them.
