Begin to think about what may happen in the play.
During Reading
Make Mind Movies
1. Listen as your teacher reads the stage description for the scene. Begin to picture this scene in your head. Continue to listen as your teacher reads the first page of dialogue. Make a mind movie of the exchange between the policemen and the sergeant. Try to picture the men: hear their voices and visualize their actions.
2. Read through the rest of the selection silently, continuing to make a mind movie.
Fix-Up Idea: Read Aloud
In groups of four, assign each person a role. Read the play aloud with your group. As you listen to the other people in your group read aloud, and as you read yourself, visualize what is happening. Pause at the end of each page to think aloud about what you have read. You may want to think aloud about what may happen next, how you feel about the character's actions, or what you would do if you were in a similar situation.
